About Stoter Farm

We didn’t start out as farmers of hay. We started as parents of two guinea pigs.

Back in 2019, our family was on the hunt for the best food for our new pets - and that led us straight to Timothy hay. After digging deeper, we realized most of the hay on store shelves in Canada was coming from the U.S. That didn’t sit right with us. We knew we could grow something better, right here at home.

So, we did.

Stoter Farm is a Canadian, family-run farm dedicated to growing high-quality, pesticide-free Timothy hay for small pets like rabbits, guinea pigs, and chinchillas. What began as a curious experiment in our fields has grown into a nationwide offering, with our hay now shipping across Canada and showing up in more and more local pet stores.

Growing great hay isn’t simple. It takes clean fields, perfect timing, and a lot of patience. Every year, we rotate our crops, harvest during a short weather window in June, and handpick weeds to avoid using pesticides. It’s more work - but it’s worth it. Because when we hear from pet owners and vets across the country that their animals are thriving on our hay, we know we’re doing something right.

Over time, we’ve added more to the mix - vitamin-fortified pellets, orchard grass, and more to come - but the heart of what we do remains the same: grow the best possible feed for small pets, in a way we can feel proud of.

From our farm to your home, thanks for choosing Canadian-grown hay.
